NEWS FLASH !!!!!

Hello Everyone! Here is our current pet escort city needs. Please take a moment and see if you have any clients travelling from Cozumel or Cancun to:

  • Vancouver
  • Calgary
  • Edmonton
  • JFK
  • La Guardia
  • Newark
  • Syracus
  • Platsburg
  • Burlington, New York.

Cozumel Humane Society would like to stay in contact with you, as our need arises, for Pet Escorts to the United States and Canada.

How can you help? Your customers going back and forth are a great source to be Pet Escorts –No cost involved to the divers, we do all the approved paperwork for the pet, personally deliver the pets to the airport and handle the easy and quick airport check-in procedures , Cancun or Cozumel departures. At their home airport they simply claim the dog or cat thru customs with the complete and thorough documentation we prepare, then the new owners meet them immediately when exiting the customs /baggage areas. We are very careful on all the arrangements to ensure a smooth, easy and fun experience for everyone.

We have found that many people are more than happy to contribute in some way to the Humane Society and this adds to a very positive connection with the Island, the Humane Society and your operation for the future.

REMEMBER YOUR DONATION CAN BE TAX DEDUCTIBLE NOW! Our friends and sponsors Debbie McBride and Valerie Friedrich went through the complicated process to get the status for us in the USA. So now when you help us you can deduct it from your taxes. To do so, you write a check made out to FRIENDS OF THE COZUMEL HUMANE SOCIETY and send it to Robert Ramirez in Texas. He will notify Debby when it arrives and she handle the necessary acknowledgements you need for your taxes.

The address is the following:

Dear friends of the Humane Society of Cozumel Island
CIEMA Administrative Director and volunteer with HSC, Cindy Smith (and her volunteers), have been taking dogs to the International Pier every day that there are ships docked there. It has been a glorious window from where to show our animals and several have already been adopted and sent to their new homes..........

HORSE CARRIAGES
Main problems: no water, no shade, no adequate equipment, long hours under the blazing sun and humidity (heat index up to 115°F in the summer, pull weight bigger than their own, inadequate resting place, no City regulations regarding their wellbeing.

This is a cause where we have made very, very slow progress. It is incredibly frustrating because we cannot take immediate action, as we can do with an abandoned dog or cat. These are animals that have owners, who make good money by exploiting them but chose not to invest in their wellbeing.

ADOPTIONS ABROAD
There are many furry friends living in the United States and Canada. We promote local adoption heavily, but there are just not enough good homes on our little island for every dog and cat in need. We soon hope over the next 3 to 5 years that our free permanent spay, neuter campaign will end the homelessness situation for companion pets in Cozumel. Adopting abroad is easy and we make it easy for you. For further information please contact us!
